* In the cafeteria... *
Gui Gui was staring at her spilled lunchbox on the ground in upset. She was blushing furiously as everyone there were looking at her and Wang Zi who was standing a few feet behind her and was wearing a look of triumph.
She bent down and tried to clean up the mess with a rag but before she can wipe it clean, Ya Tou rushed out from the crowd and stood in front of Wang Zi with her arms folded.
`You do not have to do this, do you?! What have she done? Nothing! So why are you so unreasonable?' Ya Tou said hotly.
Wang Zi leant forward and grinned, `I like doing this, so I will. And no, she haven't done anything, but I just like the sight of her there,' Wang Zi gestured at Gui Gui who were still kneeling down, trying to clean up the mess.
`What?! You mean you do all this just for your ENTERTAINMENT?! Then have you ever thought about Gui Gui's feelings? She's a human also!' Ya Tou practically spitting her words out in her rage.
Wang Zi strode to the front and laughed, `Well, she must be feeling honoured that she is my new plaything,' he looked over at Gui Gui who glanced away in embarrassment.
Ya Tou stomped to Gui Gui and pulled her up. She shook her best friend hard, `Look at him, he's SICK! You do not have to be afraid of him!'
Gui Gui shot a scared look at Wang Zi's direction and he just grinned and shrugged.
`Gui!' Ya Tou shouted in exasperation. She went over to Wang Zi and said through gritted teeth, `Even if Gui Gui can stand you, I can't, PRINCE. I think that you are a good-for-nothing, a dog, a.....'
Ya Tou interrupted herself, `Oh! Erm, Mr Kim. I wasn't, I mean, I was but...'
The vice principal, Mr Kim, cleared his throat, open his eyes wide and said in a clear voice, `Detention, Ms Yako. And please see that you don't let your tongue run wild again.'
Mr Kim walked to the exit of the cafeteria but seeing that Ya Tou wasn't following him, he turned back and stressed, `NOW!'
Ya Tou gave a huge `Urgh!!!!!' and followed Mr Kim out of the cafeteria.
Wang Zi smirked and waved his hand at the crowd to show them that show's over. Most of the people there left after much cheering and booing for Gui Gui. A few girls left behind to talk to Wang Zi and to gaze at him too.
A grin tugged at his lips and he turned to wave to Gui Gui before he too left.
Gui Gui sighed and turned back to cleaning up the mess Wang Zi had made.
* Gui Gui's POV... *
Maybe I shouldn't say I like him yet. Judging from his attitude, I don't think he would accept my confession. I should wait and be patient.
* End of Gui Gui's POV... *
She picked up the rice and all and threw them away. Sighing, Gui Gui washed her hands and headed out of the cafeteria and went to the hall to grab her bag as it was going back time.
Gui Gui noticed that many students were pointing at her and whispering behind her back too. She tried to control her suppressed anger and frustration, tried not to shout at those students but she was scared that she would lose her temper.
So, she quickly took her bag and files and hurried away with her head looking down.
As soon as she stepped out of the school gates, Gui Gui breathed a sigh of relief as she doesn't have to be whispered about anymore. Gui Gui hurried off in the direction of her home.
While Gui Gui was waiting at a crossroad for the traffic lights to shine green before she can cross the road, she felt someone tugging her skirt and looked down.
A little girl about 5 was weeping as she held onto Gui Gui's skirt. Gui Gui was alarmed but she knelt down and comforted her, `Now, what happened? Tell sister, I can help you.'
But she remained crying and shook her head. Gui Gui patted the girl's head and said soothingly, `Ok, don't be scared. So, What's your name? Mine is Gui Gui.'
The girl sniffed and whispered, `Big Sister, my mummy is lost! And now, I can't find her!' Tears welled up in her eyes again.
`Huh, your mum is lost? Girl, I think is is you who are lost,' Gui Gui smiled kindly. The kid sniffed again and gave a watery grin, `I am Xiao En. Can you help me find my mummy?'
Gui Gui grinned and stood up, `Well, of course I would. But where you last seen your mum?'
Xiao En shook her head, `I can't remember. My mum only gave me her phone number for emergency.' She searched in her pocket for something.
At last, she fished out a piece of crumpled paper. `Her number.'
Gui Gui sighed in relief. With Xiao En's mum number, it would be easier to find her. She peered at the number written on the paper and dialled it.
After a few minutes, a harrassed-sounding voice answered the call. `Hello? Is that June? Sorry, I am busy now. En En is lost. I...'
Gui Gui interrupted her hastily before she could end the call, `Madam? Is that Xiao En's mum?'
`Yes? Is my daughter with you?' the lady at the phone exclaimed.
`Yes. Can you come over and fetch her? We are near a burger stall called "Burger Delights''. 'Gui Gui looked at the signboard of a stall near them.
`Okay! I will be there in five minutes!' she shut her phone arubtly. Gui Gui grinned to herself and walked over to Xiao En who was enjoying a burger Gui Gui bought her while on the phone.
`Well, Xiao En. Your mummy going to be here,' Gui Gui smiled at the girl who beamed back at her.
`Cool! Thanks, Sis Gui Gui!' Xiao En licked up some ketchup which had stained her hand.
`En En! Mummy is soooo worried about you!' a lady wearing a business suit and high heels rushed over and picked up Xiao En. It was obvious she was worrying about her daughter as her hair was a mess and there were streaks of dirt all over her face.
She put Xiao En down again and spoke sternly to her. `How many times have I told you not to wander off?!'
The lady caught sight of Gui Gui standing nearby and grapsed her hand, `You must be the kind girl who had helped my Xiao En. Thank you, thank you.'
Gui Gui smiled her pleasure and glanced at the little girl who was still munching her burger, `Well, if you get lost again, I might not be able to help you again! Bye now!'
Gui Gui waved and hurried back home.
